Bone Broth, Broth, Stock

BROTH, STOCK, BONE BROTH

I call it SCRAP STOCK or SCRAP BROTH
Why? Because I make it out of SCRAPS: vegetable ๐ŸŒถ ๐ŸŒฝ ๐Ÿฅฌ ๐Ÿ… peels, stems, & ends, as well as bones ๐Ÿฆด from chicken๐Ÿ— beef ๐Ÿฅฉ fish ๐Ÿ  or whatever I would have discarded.
Instead of tossing these NUTRIENT RICH SCRAPS, I turn them into UBER NUTRITIOUS SCRAP BROTH.
….
Hereโ€™s how…
1. Eat lots of fresh, seasonal, local, organic (if available) vegetables.
2. Save the peels & ends of carrots, peels from onions, stems from fresh herbs ๐ŸŒฟ etc
3. Try to choose animal products from humanely treated animals. Wild, Grass-fed, pasture-raised. Those who have lead as nice a life as possible. (Yes, I know some would argue that not killing animals is the โ€œnicestโ€ life. I do treat animal protein as an accoutrement vs the main thing on my plate)
4. Place all bones, skin, & inedible fat into a bag or container in the freezer
5. When youโ€™re ready to make stock, find a pot that goes from stove top to oven.
6. Add butter, olive oil, sea salt & pepper. (Watch video)
7. Brown your scraps on high to medium-high heat
8. Deglaze your pot.
9. Add water to the tippy top
10. Cook in oven 250F/121C for 8-12 hrs
11. Strain & discard scraps.
12. Drink broth or use to cook grains, lentils, beans, sautรฉe veggies & meat or use to make soup. Even use in your smoothies. ๐Ÿค” STAY HEALTHY MY FRIENDS!!
